Dr. William J. Orts serves as a Board Advisor for Hughes Energy, bringing over 30 years of expertise in green chemistry and bioproducts innovation. As Research Leader for Bioproducts and Acting Center Director at the USDA’s Western Regional Research Center, he leads a team developing strategies to add value to underutilized biomass, including crop byproducts, food waste, and municipal solid waste. Dr. Orts has authored over 300 publications, holds 15 patents, and has successfully guided numerous technologies from lab concepts to commercial prototypes, supporting Hughes Energy’s mission in sustainable waste-to-energy solutions.
